For the second collumn when they started talking about how animals and crops can jeopordize a empires future or turn a village to a great empire. It really shocked me when I saw this because it made so much sense. It also changed my look on civilizations. I always thought all the really big ones wher mighty because they conquered other civilizations. It is partially right but farming and animals are way higher on the list of things to do list of a empire.

When I wrote this I thought about reading history books most of the big nations had been in war so I expected it to be something needed for empires until now...

When I wrote a mighty empire I meant a empire with a lot of land and a good economy. With the movie's theory I think that it is based on the peoples cordinateon and ways of working together and dividing jobs like taking care of animals or plowing fields. This can later lead to enough time to conquer and get a wide land mass like the ones in the middle east.

I think that a nation can conquer when they have enough people to stay at home. Also when they had enough food for some people to leave there farms and animals and take food with them. But I don't think that people should conquer unless they don't have enough land to live on. Otherwise it is a waste of time.

For the quistions I was wondering if the first people who settled in the middle east knew that the ground was fertile there.

I think the answer is no because when they where traveling they just stoped anywher as the scientist in the movie said.

Geography by chance

The modern world is full of countries, some wealthy some poor. Same thing was on earth 12,000 years ago. Some groups of people where thriving some where dieng. But why is it like this, was it that some people where smarter than others or where more efiecient. After watching a movie I was fast to agree on the theory of a scientist. It was simple luck that decided who was wealthy or not. The middle east was great farm land 12,000 years ago and had animals like cows, horses and goats. The people who decided to settle down in that area where lucky to make that choice. The dirt there could grow plants with a lot of protien so if the people ate this they would have a stable diet making them strong and healthy. When they started growing theese crops they didn't have to gather all day and had time to think about new technology. People noticed more efective ways to live and eventually became modern man. Theese people also moved to europe when the middle east started getting over used. They used the same technology in Europe and then moved to the Americas. USA and Europe are quite well of and this proves the crops theory. Think about if you only gathered and ate all day then you would never have time to think about new things.
